Palm Sunday signals the beginning of Holy Week – Jesus’ final days before his crucifixion. Each Gospel has a narrative of the last week of Jesus’ life (Matthew 21-28; Mark 11-16; Luke 19-24; John 12-21). We remember and celebrate events such as:
- Jesus’ Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem – Palm Sunday,
- The Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples – Maundy Thursday
- The Crucifixion of Christ – Good Friday
Holy Week ends on the Saturday, with Jesus’ body being laid to rest in a tomb.
On Easter Sunday, Jesus Christ, Son of God rose from the dead, demonstrating He holds power over sin, and death. And for those that believe in Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, they will be saved from their sins. With Palm Sunday, Holy Week and Easter, Christians around the world come together to celebrate the life, death and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This is a great week to join with your church family in corporate worship and praise. This is also a great time to share the Gospel with others – that Jesus Christ came to pay a debt we could never pay and makes us right with God; giving us a chance to live with Him eternally.
