Onas L. Bailey was born in Saint Thomas, Jamaica to Justin and Vernell Bailey.
He left Jamaica at a young age to join his parents in England, who had migrated earlier. While in England, Onas attended Elliott Secondary School and excelled in Art, graduating with a Certificate in Art and Design.
Onas grew up in a Christian home and accepted Christ at the age of fourteen. He experienced the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, the same evening he came to faith. He became a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, and sought opportunities to serve the Lord. His commitment to the Lord and His people, led him to minister in various capacities. Onas has been a Sunday School Teacher, Marker Association Director, Assembly Band Movement Leader, and has assisted in many other areas of ministry in the church.
Onas has a passion for serving the Lord, and has been using his giftedness as a guitarist to minister to the church for over thirty years. He endeavours to continue doing the work of the Lord and to equip others to realize their fullest potential within the Music Ministry. He has a strong desire to see people’s lives touched and transformed by the power of Jesus Christ, through worship. Onas believes that this can happen if he makes himself available to God. He is a dedicated Music Minister, Worship Leader and Music Instructor who has identified, trained, and mentored many individuals to become musicians and worship leaders. He is also a vocalist and guitarist at North Park and has served as Music Minister in the Church of God of Prophecy, Eastern Canada. In 2011, Onas completed his first solo project. His love for music has taken him to parts of the United Kingdom, United States and Canada.
His love for worship and seeing others meet their true potential has been demonstrated in a variety of ways. Maranatha Christian Academy (MCA) was privileged to have his expertise as a Music Teacher for several years. Mr. Bailey worked with students of all ages, from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, preparing them for concerts and graduation ceremonies. His range of expertise spans from music theory to introduction to instruments. Onas offered music lessons to many in the church and community. He encouraged them to develop and showcase their talents. Minister Bailey is also an innovator who seeks out opportunities to enhance the worship experience and make it accessible on a variety of platforms.
Onas completed his Foundations Courses on October 7th, 2016. He went on to earn his Ministerial Certificate on March 4th, 2019 and was officially ordained on March 10th, 2019. His passion for people and for God’s work, led him to pursue his Ministry Development Training (MDT) through Oral Roberts University.
Onas is also a loving husband and father. In 1985, he fell in love with, and married Mirriam Benjamin. Onas and Mirriam migrated to Canada in December 1989 and their union produced two children, Rohan and Angeline. North Park has been experiencing the musical giftedness of the Bailey Family for decades.
Minister Bailey’s favourite Scripture passage is taken from Jeremiah 7:2
Stand in the gate of Jehovah’s house, and proclaim there his word, and say, hear the word of Jehovah, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship Jehovah. (ASV)
When not ministering, Onas works at Metro Ontario Inc. as a DPMT. Manager. His favourite pastime is playing tennis with friends or with his daughter.
North Park is blessed to have Minister Onas Bailey at the helm of its Music Ministry and is appreciative of his sacrifice of time, talent and resources.
