Sister Eulalee Smith was a North Park Worship Centre member for over two decades and will be missed. During her time as a member, she impacted many people’s lives. Her church family remembered her as a quiet, kind and loving person who cared for the well-being of others and her community. Sister Shelia Williams, one of her Seniors Ministry colleagues, remembered her as a unique and friendly person who was organized, a devoted Christian and a leader, working with the Jamaican Canadian Association, where she demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities in support of the vision of the organization and individuals who accessed the programs, even when faced with challenges. She will never forget the many trips that sister Eulalee organized as one of the ways to keep people engaged and connected.
Her Hearts and Hands Senior Ministry team leader – Debbie Simmons-Charles, remembered her:
“In loving memory of Sis. Eulalee Smith—a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—her life was markedby love, faith, and an inspiring dedication to service. She shared her incredible journey with me, from working in the BBC’s Accounts Department in England to travelling extensively, even being baptized in the Jordan River. Sis. Eulalee’s quiet wisdom shone in her cherished sayings, like “When you’re ready, you don’t have to get ready” and “This too shall pass.” She found good in each day and often left our conversations with a prayer and words of encouragement.”
“Her passion for community and connection was evident through her active membership with the Jamaican Canadian Association and Elder Help since 1973, even taking multiple buses to attend. When COVID-19 restrictions disrupted her social life, she missed her friends dearly. Inspired by her spirit, I received permission from NPWC leadership to create Midday Moments, a biweekly platform for seniors to connect and reflect. Sis. Eulalee’s warmth and gratitude touched everyone she met; her legacy lives on in the lives she impacted.“
On behalf of the Hearts and Hands Seniors Ministry leadership team, members, and friends of North Park Worship Centre, we express our deepest condolences to the family and thank them for sharing her with us over the years. Be comforted that God is with you in this difficult time.
Psalms 34:18: “The Lord is near to the broken hearted, and saves the crushed in spirit.”
