Sister Lena Barrett was a member of North Park Worship Centre family for over a decade and will be greatly missed. She is remembered for her dedication in her Christian-walk – endeavouring to be Christ-like in all that she did each day. Her love for God and others was evident in the way she interacted with people; and her infectious smile would create a welcoming atmosphere for a conversation with her. Even though she might have appeared to be a quiet person, she always ceased the opportunity to share wisdom nuggets with others – whether it was a story about how she exemplified the ‘fruits of the Spirit’ in challenging situations, or about her career journey and time invested with her family and community. She was kind, witty and was great at letting you know and making you feel how special of a person you were to her. Some people can recall the many texts messages containing Bible verses and words of support she sent regularly to help you through the day.
This is how her Senior’s Ministry team leader – Rosie McDonald, remembered her:
“Sister Lena was a woman of God who always took the time to encourage me to stay focus on Christ and to remain humble. In my three years of working with her, she consistently showcased her faith as a Christian and lived peacefully with others. I will also remember her for the many jokes she shared and for having everyone’s best interest at heart. It was a pleasure getting to know her – she was just a great person overall.”
The Heart and Hands Seniors Ministry, members and friends of North Park Worship Centre express condolences and thank the family for giving us the opportunity to spend time with our beloved Lena Barrett. May you find strength during this challenging time as God continues to guide you. Sister Lena often reminds people, that ‘God is in control.’
