Brother George Mendez was a beloved member of North Park Worship Centre for over ten years, and an active member of the Men’s and Senior’s ministries. He was admired for being generous, hardworking, committed, punctual and for being a sharp dresser. Above all he was admired for having a strong faith in God.
Deacon Ricardo Alexander shares this memory:
Honoring a friend’s passing is truly about honoring their life. I am deeply saddened by the loss, but grateful for the time he and I shared together. Our relationship matured from church brothers to becoming his team leader in our Heart & Hands Seniors ministry, to becoming his friend.
George was a very generous man, not only with his giving, but in his actions. 1 John 3:18, reminds me of George’s character, “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” Charity is the highest form of love that you can give to one another, because it signifies the unique selfless love that God gives to us, and is expressed in our own selfless love to others.
Friendship transcends death. The memories I made with George will never be forgotten. This tribute to George is not about saying goodbye, but instead, a thank you. I thank him for the jokes, for his encouragement and the fellowship; but most importantly, the bond and trust we’ve created together.
The church family at North Park Worship Centre do miss Brother George. We have hope and confidence as believers that we will see him again because we all share the same faith and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as our resurrected Savior. We continue to pray for Brother George’s family during this difficult time, that God will comfort them as He has promised in his Word. We extend our thanks to his family for sharing him with us and express our deepest condolences.
