Rovel Dunn
Biography
Pastor Rovel Dunn was born and raised in the beautiful parish of Trelawny, Jamaica and migrated to Canada with his family in 1986. Rovel married his lovely wife, Lurline, in 1991 and they are proud parents of two children, and two grandchildren.
Rovel and his family started attending North Park Worship Centre in 1996, as regular visitors. In February 2000, the Lord called and adopted him into the family of God. A few months later, he was baptized and received the right hand of fellowship. Since then, he has been a faithful member of North Park. He grew to love the Lord, His Word and His people and subsequently, answered the call to the ministry.
Pastor Dunn gave himself to serve the local church and for 14 years, served as the first Family and Couples’ Ministry Director, alongside his wife, Lurline. Under their leadership, couples were mentored and counselled, many families were supported, and marriages were strengthened through workshops, seminars, and retreats. Real world issues that affect families were tackled via a variety of forums. Discussions, panels, and small groups were tools used to engage the congregation and visitors.
The impact of this ministry was widespread. The church-family came together for fellowship and community-building through the Annual Church Picnic and the Family Social. Movie Nights provided opportunities for multi-generational socialization and a time to reflect on Biblical perspectives of family matters. Their success with the local Family Ministry led to a National appointment of Family and Couples’ Ministry Directors for COGOP Eastern Canada, a position they held for six years.
At North Park, Pastor Dunn has also been a Building Manager, Adult Sunday School teacher, an Administrative Committee Member and Small Group Leader. However, his primary focus is Spiritual Discipline and Christian Education. He views teaching as his anointed gift, which fuels his passion to see believers grow in the truth and knowledge of God’s Word, and come to the fullness of Christ.
His desire is to be thoroughly equipped for every good work. He has been a faithful student of the Word in his personal study, as well as in corporate Bible Study. Pastor Dunn has also attended workshops to equip himself in teaching the Word of God. He was a regular participant in various Evangelical Training Association courses, as well as, Leadership Development courses and workshops. Pastor Rovel received his Foundations Course Certificate in October, 2004. He subsequently went on to earn his Ministerial Certificate and became a licensed minister in June, 2010. His passion for people and for God’s Word, led him to pursue his Ministry Development Training (MDT) through Oral Roberts University. In 2017, after four years of dedicated study, he was among the first group of participants in Eastern Canada to complete the program. In 2019, he was appointed the Associate Pastor at North Park.
In his leisure time, Rovel enjoys a good movie.
North Park Worship Centre is blessed to have Associate Pastor Rovel Dunn serve alongside Pastors Lawrence and Matthews.
